Here at Yellowstone Environmental Solutions, we serve a number of key industries with a comprehensive range of waste management services.
With extensive knowledge and experience of hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams, we offer vital site preparation for construction projects. This includes removing and treating material from the site, as well as drainage and cleansing services.
Our role in UK construction
In August, the Global Britain Commission published a report – ‘Global Britain: Where next?’. The report set out priority industries in the UK, to ensure its place as one of the largest economies in the world. Unsurprisingly, construction was high up on that list.
Construction is among the fastest-growing industries in the world and it is set to grow by 47% between 2020-2030. In the UK, the sector is growing rapidly at an annual rate of 3.7%, with high demand and government initiatives as driving forces.
With all this in mind, we are here to provide seamless construction site preparation services – particularly essential for the redevelopment of brownfield sites when demolition of disused commercial and industrial premises is required.
What is ‘site preparation’ in building construction or demolition contexts?
When expanding or redeveloping brownfield sites, projects may be complicated by the presence of potentially hazardous substances or contaminants.
Before a construction project can get underway, the proposed site must be prepared to ensure that it is safe to work and build on. Failure to carry out appropriate site preparation could potentially result in costly delays and unacceptable risks to health and legal action.
As hazardous and non-hazardous waste specialists, within the bracket of construction site preparation, we offer the following services:
site surveys
identification of unknown waste streams
cleaning and removal of underground and above-ground tanks
contaminated soil extraction
treatment and remediation of drainage
CCTV surveys
high-pressure cleaning services
decommissioning
Whether a demolition, redevelopment or construction project, we have a wealth of experience in waste removal associated with commercial site clearances. Our competent team can be deployed for construction site preparation at locations throughout the UK.
How to dispose of contaminated soil
One of our specialities is the extraction and treatment of contaminated soil. Our treatment plant is licensed to receive a broad range of hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams. These include soils and sludges that contain a spectrum of contaminants, such as oil, diesel, petrol and other chemicals.
First, we take samples from the site in order to analyse and classify the soil as hazardous, non-hazardous or inert. We then assign an EWC code (European Waste Catalogue classification) before we ascertain the most suitable process – treatment or recovery.
Special projects and decommissioning a site
When certain industrial sites are due to be redeveloped for alternative purposes, professional decommissioning work must be undertaken to ensure they are safe and clear.
Here at Yellowstone, our Special Projects team can manage and decommission a site. We will ensure that works are carried out safely and legally, providing the complete solution, which might include:
cleaning and removing redundant storage tanks
demolition work
disposing of waste chemicals in drums and IBCs (intermediate bulk containers)
full site clearance
